PVI 4B powered mixer are any clue, then Peavey Quality Control needs to be improved dramatically. The XR8600 I purchased a few months back had a cheap feel to it, the knobs feel like they are going to come off if you so much as look at them, plus, the XR 8600 replaces older "wood box" models like the XR 696F, which was I.M.H.O. a far superior, professional-grade product, with more bands of master EQ and a ninth channel. The new ones don't have that, plus only one output per channel (one for mains, on for main/monitor) What, the cost of one more output jack per amp was too much? At least they've corrected that design error on the XR8600D.Now, regarding the PVI 4B: It was defective right out of the box. Two of the volume pots were binding, and channel #2 had a loud hiss, even when nothing was plugged into that channel. How did this get... Read more Really noisy Fan, By This review is from: Peavey Pvi 4B 4 Channel Powered Mixer (Electronics) I looked at this product on Amazon, bought it from another dealer due to close out cost, and am planning to use it with a small musical group that performs at Retirement homes 4 times a year. the reverb is truly awaful, but I can deal with that. The entire time the unit is running the fan makes such a whirring sound it can be heard from across a ballroom. I have a friend who is a Phd in electrical engineering looking at a remedy now...Definitely cannot recommend this product to anyone, even as tolerant as I normally am about things. Inexpensive PA option, By This review is from: Peavey Pvi 4B 4 Channel Powered Mixer (Electronics) We use this little mixer for our church PA system with a pair of Klipsch PA speakers that must be more than 20 years old or so. The mixer is nice and small and easy for transporting around. It works well for what we use it for which is usually one or two mics and some times I play the recorded music if our pianist is unable to make it to services. We also record sermons through it with a laptop and everything sounds clean and clear. It is no powerhouse, but for a simple PA system it works well. |
